Alfonso lent me his hat at the lookout, or "mirador," in Ocotal, on the highest ridge, with pine trees, a narrow and rocky horse and walking path and a view of hundreds of miles. To the east, it was endless plains and mountains. Everyone should be able to have a picture like this, I think.
Kris, What an awesome adventure and what a great opportunity to show and share the stories of the people, town, country and what Geneseo students are doing. My favorite post - I like them all - is the English class singing "Imagine". I cried. It really is what the program, exchange and trip is all about. It gives hope that maybe someday we can all live as one. Thank you for sharing the adventure with us through your blog. I looked every day and sometimes several times a day. While you were gone there was an article in the local paper about Geneseo being rated one of the best values in public college education. This program, the students, and the cultural exchange all help us understand why. Thank you.
From Nicaragua to the College Green, On Scene shares the compelling stories we are working on for the next edition of the alumni magazine. Stay tuned...
Managing Editor Kris Dreessen dislikes desks. She’s much happier exploring our history and getting to know our students and alumni to tell the Geneseo story. An award-winning writer and photographer, she’s never without her pen or camera.
That is gorgeous. Wow. I deeply envy your adventures. :)
